In Aether's first life he witnessed the slaughter of his family and the fall of his Empire by those who sought to take his crown and those whose love for him twisted into hatred and envy. They wanted him to suffer, to feel how they felt when he heartlessly rejected them and allowed their lives to fall into misery.

When Aether opens his eyes, he's back to the beginning! He was seen as a benevolent Prince who would become a gentle Emperor but now, he must become a tyrant to save those he cares for and protect his Empire from falling into ruin.
