(M/N) is an American foreign exchange student. He's starting his well, what was supposed to be, his third year in high school. However, he had to start his first year at a Japanese high school known as Karasuno.
Back in America, he's a well-known all-rounder volleyball player. He was known as "The Hawk" not just because of his speed or high jumps that made him look like he flew, but also because of his keen eyesight that allowed him to perceive and predict his opponent's moves and strategies. However, recently he has been lacking the passion he used to possess for the sport and decided to take a break from it.
However, life seemed to have different plans. While touring Karasuno, he witnesses the boys' volleyball team and the raw potential they possess that could allow them to become a great volleyball team. He decides that maybe they could help him rediscover his passion for volleyball. Little does he know, they and some rival teams would be happy to help him.
