When she would walk down the street in the dead of night Elfy would look to the sky, and stare at the stars. It would ease the boredom. She would count the stars, one by one, one by one, one by one. Until she would trip on a rock and scrape her knees. She didn't like scraping her knees. She also didn't like when she walked into the kitchen and saw her Mother shoot a man in the chest, blood soaking the ground. Staining her clothing. Staining her past. Painting her world red.

Elfy didn't like being forced to testify in court after witnessing a robbery. Elfy didn't like when she was kidnapped. Elfy doesn't like a lot of things. Luckily for Elfy a lot of things were beginning to change in her life. Whether they were changing for the better or worst, Pennie was slowly learning as a chain of events unfolds her past, her mother, and the rope of lies that leads to where she is standing now.

Elfy is forced into a world she doesn't understand after her kidnapping, and must learn the ropes to this new life she has been shoved into. Whether that means navigating not getting killed, or finding the truths of her past that seem to haunt her they all seem to lead to one thing. Pennies Mom.

A dystopian young adult novel involving romance, secret experiments on human subjects, and a group of teenagers' will to survive. Reader Comments: "I'm gonna gush about your book real quick...all the technology has a purpose and is beautifully explained so I can picture it in my mind...the whole concept of the book is completely original...*moment of silence for your beautiful arch of character development* everything your characters do is strictly them but they develop enough to show more about themselves without you straight up telling the reader about them" -Vairl9023 "Ahh!!! This is so good!! I will be anxiously awaiting the next Chapter!!" -CrystalBagot "Brilliant...ohh, this is very catchy, good work" -IndeeMaynard "I love this so far" -BrianneMorris "You've done a great job at creating a mysterious mood" -poisonedpen *** All Evita Creedy, 17, wants is to finish her degree and be accepted for a prestigious job with the city's Department of Energy. Elodie's life changes at the turn of a doorknob when she is forced into joining a secret organization that claims to be protecting the Earth from aliens. But with every step she takes, she finds the organization, or the facility, as they call it, becoming more and more suspicious. When a mysterious death occurs, revealing a well-concealed secret, things quickly go downhill as humanity's future is placed on the shoulders of a single gaggle of teenagers. *** I hear a sigh from the other side of the door, "Miss. Chaucer, you have a wonderful opportunity here, are you going to take it or not?" Now, I am seriously confused, "Opportunity?" She takes advantage of my befuddled state and shoves the door open. Shit. The corners of her mouth pull up, and it's so unnatural, it takes me a moment to realize she's smiling. Major plastic surgery? Probably. Click. Did she just lock the door? She locked the door! I spring towards the house phone, dusty from years of doing absolutely nothing, so I can call the police. I don't make it. Halfway there, I trip on my own pant-leg and face plant on the floor. The woman steps over me and retrieves the phone. She looks at it as if it's a foreign object, "This won't be necessary. All I want to do is talk to you." For some reason, instead of screaming, I stay silent. She smiles and pulls out a chair from the kitchen table for me to sit on. When I don't sit, she says, "If you want to know what's going on, then sit." I think about it for a moment. She hasn't hurt me yet, and I have to admit, I am quite curious as to what's going on. So, call me stupid, but I sit down. "I am from a space organization that protects civilians from . . . outside threats." *** Beautiful cover made by @mahana258! Aria never imagined that she would see Oliver again, it had been many years since she had last seen Ollie. He was her best friends brother, and he was off limits, not that he ever noticed her. They had grown up together, attented the same schools, played playground games after school, and hung out at each other's homes. Suddenly right around middle school Aria started to get shy, and awkward whenever Ollie was present, and it got worse the older they got. She'd steal glimpses of him whenever possible, and yet, never admitted it to anyone, let alone Ollie. Then life happened, and they grew up, and they all went there separate ways. One day, Aria spots Ollie in the distance, and she immediately becomes entranced at the sight of him. Oliver was older now, but she quickly recognized him. She would know, as she had stolen many moments staring, studying his face, and she could definitely spot those eyes anywhere.
