This is an experimental project I'm working on, a collection of modern "fables, fairytales, and folk stories" told in a frame story (a traditional story that houses sub-stories, like 1,001 Nights or the Pentamerone). The frame story follows a group of beauty pageant contestants who, in an attempt to make the contest more palatable to an increasingly polarized audience, compete to tell the best folk tale.

I don't want this project to reflect solely my views--I want it to be more communal, which is why I'm opening these stories up for comments! If there's something you like, dislike, or just think is weird ("why do all the lions have Biblical names?"), feel free to drop a comment saying as much, and I'll see if I can incorporate them into the final version in the form of reactions from the audience, judges, or other contestants :)

I've dreamed of the perfect marriage ever since I was a little girl: a marriage complete with a hardworking husband while I tended to the home and our children, preferably four little rugrats to call my own. I dreamed of a life filled with laughter, joy, and success, a life we built together. I dreamed of growing old next to my husband, creating a great love story to tell our grandchildren someday. It all seemed so possible. I was raised to be the perfect wife, after all. From the outside, it seemed I had exactly what I dreamed of with the rich, determined husband; the brilliant, gaudy diamond ring; and the beautiful home filled with the hope of future children. Yes, it was all a dream come true. I should have felt grateful, really. The problem is, I also wanted a marriage based on love, passion, and affection, but those are the only things my husband cannot give me . . . . . . because they're reserved for her. For readers: * I do my best to proofread before publishing, but some typos and errors will slip through. Feel free to point them out! * Comments, active engagement, and helpful critiques are welcomed. * Mean, unnecessary comments that attack me, personally, or other commenters will be ignored and deleted. It takes a lot of courage to publish your work and for others to actively engage in a community. I'd like to keep this a safe and fun place to rage at imperfect heroes and cheer for darling heroines! * I'm not a spicy writer. I rather use my word count for plot, character development, and GROVEL!!! * Most importantly, I hope you enjoy the little world I'm creating. Happy reading, everyone! ADS/Imaginationgirl35

I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing but I'm totally winging it. (note: after writing the intro I've decided to make this story Inspired by a Dodie Clark song called she. I highly recommend listening to it as it will be the main theme of the story!! also it's a beautiful song with an amazing story!!) I've hardly seen any Chrissy x readers and it makes me sad as Chrissy is my favorite character! I simp for sure lol, anyways this is a femreader just a heads up! (TW: possible internalized homophobia, traumatic events, mention of eating disorders, homophobia, mentions of sex and sexualization (possible nsfw), mentions of religious trauma, depression (low self esteem), anxiety, swearing, homophobic slurs, mentions of suicide, mentions of murder, mentions of death) Intro: Chrissy Cunningham, the queen of Hawkins High, and cheerleader. We use to be friends in middle school, when my mom forced me to do cheer. She made me feel less weird, not like it matters, being a girl who likes girls makes me the schools, uh, scratch that, the TOWNS, outcast. Girls don't wanna be around me and guys try to "be the guy who fixes" me, if they don't sexualize the fact that I am gay. I love Chrissy, but she's the queen, and I'm just Y/N, the antichrist, the abomination, the outcast. Shes also straight and dating Jason, who she's too good for! she's sweet, and kind, and cares about those around her, while Jason is an asshole who bullies absolutely everyone who is different from the social norms. * * * she tastes like birthday cake, storytime, and fall........ but to her I taste of nothing at all.... -Dodie Clark * * *

Jayden was never meant to be a prince, but when he gets adopted by the king and queen, he has to prepare himself for the challenges ahead. Luckily, his personal knight, Kam, is there to help him out. Together, they will have to deal with mages, fight dragons, and face windigos. Follow them as they learn more about each other, and learn to look past their deferences to accomplish their goals and save the kingdom. Firstly, a huge thanks to my friend Sophia (@sopheyyis or @B1ashe) for drawing the cover. She is an amazing artist, go follow her on instagram and tik toc because she is the best. Warning: this is not for kids or people sensitive to triggers. I tend to write on the dark side, just so you know. There will be no smut, but there will be mentions of sex, abuse, abandonment, a little bit of swearing and this list could be updated as the story goes on. I usually don't write romance, but I want to get better at it, so here we go... About updates, I wish I could say I will be posting at least once a day but I know that won't be true because I'm currently editing my book that I am publishing this summer (2020) and this story is more of just a de-stressor (is that a word) so the grammar and writing, especially the tense (it will most likely flip between present and past tense, just pretend it is all the same) might not be perfect, but I just felt like writing it. I will publish at least once a week Now with that out of the way, I just wanna say, hope ya enjoy the story. Have a great day and keep being your amazing you!

Please don't read this, I wrote it in middle school and it's really bad. I just don't want to delete it because some people might get mad at me ;-; Maybe someday I will rewrite it. "What kind of fairytale is this? Where's the happy ending?" The little girl, approximately 7 years old, asked her mother. "That's what I wanted to teach you May, you should know now, that life isn't always going to have a good end. Bad things are going to happen, and if you play them off and ignore them, it will only worsen," May's mother explained. May nodded slowly. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Once upon a time, is how most fairytales start. Then, they end with a happily ever after. But not this story... There once was a prince, who fell in love with a girl. But she wasn't a princess. She was the hand maiden of a nobleman's daughter, who had eyes for the young prince. The prince and girl fell in love, but couldn't be together, for the nobleman's daughter grew jealous when she found out, and ordered them to be killed. This story was called "The Lover's Curse." As it passed down, generation through generation, it became known as only a legend, a myth. But it was true. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ It's up to May and Drew to break the hold destiny has on them, to fight for their own way. Will they live their happily ever after, or die trying? +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Wow! This story was such an adventure for me. You can really tell the difference in my writing as time went on XD. I want to thank everyone who stuck with me through this story and supported me with their votes and sweet comments! I look forward to the next project!! YouDontKnowShipping

Over the Wall: A Collection of Short Stories (NaNoWriMo 2014)

30 parts Complete

This year for NaNoWriMo, I am writing a short story anthology. It will feature thirty or so short stories (my hope is to write one per day to fulfill my 1,667 per day word requirement) about varying things. Each morning, I will randomly select a number between one and thirty and I will look at the corresponding list of first lines I will have. I will take that line and write a short story using it and then the next day I will do the process over again (some stories might relate to each other, some might not). Anyway I will edit the story for that day and post it here. It may not be posted exactly on the corresponding day, but in the end there will be thirty short stories. P.S. Although these are somewhat edited they are still rough drafts so please treat them as such.
