Fourteen year old, Kingsley Mayer, is subject to the death of his younger brother, Jenson, in a freak accident while hanging out with Kingsley and his friends. After 6 months of cutting contact with those same friends, a fellow classmate tells Kingsley that he found his brothers body down by a creek just north from where him and his friends live. This has left Kingsley with no choice but to gather all his friends once again and lie about going on an "adventure to find real gold" but instead to find to his brothers dead body, to say goodbye one last time. Kingsley runs into a problem though when 3 out of those 4 friends find out the real reasoning behind the adventure and decide to ditch him and his bestfriend, Buck, to find the body for themselves.
