~ retelling of Hades and Persephone ~

EVERY TEN YEARS, THE GOD OF DEATH TAKES A BRIDE.
In the Kingdom of Minoa, a sacrifice of a virgin girl is given to the God of Death to try and appease the never-ending winter. She's accompanied by a male sacrifice, intended to be her guardian so that she can reach the Underworld safely.

THIS TIME, SHE'S NOT A SACRIFICE. SHE'S A RECKONING.
When Nerissa, a bold and willful young woman, volunteers to be the bride, she forfeits her human life. Along with her less-than-capable guard, Mercer, they make their way to the palace of the Underworld to meet her husband: the King of the Underworld, and Death himself.

BUT AN ANCIENT CURSE IS BINDING THE KINGDOM...
Death's bitter foe has cursed him, so that he spends his days awaiting the return of his love, Persephone, who will bring back Spring. One night with Death, and Nerissa will be granted half his power...and the ability to find her brother's killer.

...SHE HAS ONE MONTH TO OUTSMART DEATH.
Despite their increasing attraction to one another, her husband insists on keeping her in the dark. Nerissa must use all of her guts and guile to do the one thing he's not used to: people outsmarting him.

DEATH IS ABOUT TO HAVE THE (most problematic) TIME OF HIS LIFE.

Book I of The Triple Moons' Chronicles * Up in the sky, in a world between myths and lies, lives a daughter caged on an island. She is Persephone. Forced into marriage by her father Zeus, Persephone would resign from her fate. But when her grieving mother, Demeter, comes close to killing all the mortals, Zeus orders her back to her homeland. Given and returned against her will, Persephone takes charge of her life and eats six pomegranate seeds before leaving. Food from the underworld can't be eaten as it will tie one to the land. The man on the throne abruptly stood up, his dark black eyes shining with an untammed flame, one that turned everything into embers. It was obvious that this powerful man did not like those who spoke back, espeically a small human girl like the one in front of him. The human girl felt the anger radiate off the man and started to run towards the entrance she came from, only to suddenly feel arms wrap around her waist, crushing her against a very solid chest. She opened her mouth to yell, but a strong hand covered her mouth. "You are a fiesty little girl." It was evident that the man was smirking in his voice; he was enjoying her fear. "Now, I do not want to punish you so early. So please, be the good girl that you are and be quiet. Not that screaming will do you any good; you are in the Underworld, after all." --- It had been five years after the death of her older sister before nineteen year old Katherine Bakers could even sleep peacefully at night. She had witnessed her own sisters murder, leaving scars beyond compare. She withdrew from her family and became a quiet recluse. But old nightmares come to life when she is knocked out and is taken by a stranger. Only this stranger is a god: Hades, God of the Underworld. Hades is a very dangerous man who rules the Underworld with an iron fist with no immorse for punishments of the wicked. He has a stone-cold heart that feels like ice, as no one has been able unthaw his frozen heart. And he is slowly losing time. A shattered human and the god of the dead; a new take of Persephone and Hades. "I've told you, Hades, I can not become your mistress." she sadly told him. She had always lived in her mother's shadow, and if she followed Hades, she would once again be living in another's shadow. Even though she loved him, she did not think she could stomach it. "I do not want you to be my mistress, Persephone, I want you to be my queen," he confessed to her. She snapped her head up to meet his eyes, searching for any sign he wanted to take his words back, but there was no remorse. And just like that, she fell ever so slightly more in love with him. "Your queen?" she asked, she had to be sure. Strangely the word had slid off her tongue gracefully as if it had belonged there. "Yes, become my queen," he told her once again, taking back the step she had taken. "Rule besides me as the goddess of spring and the Underworld." The words don't seem to make sense in her mind. --- Further description in the book --- #1 - MYTH RETELLING (as of October 1st, 2021) #1 - GODDESS OF SPRING (as of Nov 23rd, 2021) #1 - HADES TOWN (as of Jan 13th, 2022) #1 - HADES AND PERSEPHONE (as of Feb 9th, 2022) #1 - GREEK MYTHOLOGY (as of March 29th, 2022) #1 - QUEEN OF THE UNDERWORLD (as of April 4th, 2022) #1 - PERSEPHONE AND HADES (as of April 20th, 2022) #1 - GOD OF THE UNDERWORLD (as of April 20th, 2022) #1 - KING OF THE UNDERWORLD (as of Dec 22, 2022) #2 - HECATE (as of Nov 4th, 2021) #2 - DEMETER (as of Jan 29th, 2022) #2 - KING AND QUEEN (as of Feb 21st, 2022) #2 - PERSEPHONE (as of Sep 20th, 2023) #3 - GREEK MYTH (as of May 6th, 2022) #4 - MYTH (as of April 21th, 2022) #4 - RETELLING (as of May 10th, 2022) #4 - UNDERWORLD (as of 26th, 2023) #6 - HADES (as of April 8th, 2022) #6 - DIVINE (as of May 6th, 2022) #41 - OLYMPIANS (as of Feb 9th, 2021) #55 - GREEK (as of May 8th, 2022) #61 - OLYMPUS (as of May 8th, 2022)
