In the year 1999, high above Macross Island, a gigantic alien battle fortress came out of a hyperspace fold and collided in the island. In 2008, the battle fortress was rebuild and remodeled into the Super-dimensional Defense Fortress the 1st. Codename: Macross. Then, a sudden attack of military conquerors called the Zentraddi on a mission to reclaim the SDF-1 Macross and destroy the Earth in the process caused a huge explosion of dimensions, bringing forth a devastating One Year War to them. Now two different worlds of robotic warriors must unite to combat the threat of the Principality of Zeon and the Zentraddi Forces on both Earth and in space in what will be known in history as the 1st Great Super Robot War!All Rights Reserved

All of which can't be achieved with a powerful shadowy threat looming over the horizon.
