The Song of The Bow

For fans of The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller.

A shepherd boy is anointed the future king by one of Israel's most revered prophets. When he defeats the Philistine giant, his legend spreads like wildfire through the land and the people make him their hero. King Saul takes David in as his personal musician, but his heart hardens as the praise for David continues to exceed their trust and love of him.

But there is one that loves David more than himself: the king's son. David and Prince Jonathan develop a friendship in spite of Saul's growing hatred for David, and soon that friendship deepens to become something more dear to David than anything in his future or past.

Yet the kingdom and their people demand more of them and the House of Saul is on the brink of a brutal, irredeemable fall. Saul will stop at nothing to get rid of his future usurper, and David can no longer resist the will of the people, gods and the prophets, despite his loyalty to Saul and his family.

And so the first king of Israel and the new prophesied king find themselves locked in a struggle for the throne and its power, running down a path of blood and war, desperate to find redemption in the eyes of those they love. Neither of them know how similar their stories will turn out to be, and soon they and those around them will be faced with a hard question:

Can true peace be found in a world like ours?
