Basil Greene, Ava Longing, and Alex Luster are thrown together not by chance, not choice, but by the gods of Olympus. Three different souls, and each one with a set of problems that all start on one fateful night. Three sane minds plagued with nightmares envisioned by their parents. And three poor demigods, whose lives went crumbling down once they fell asleep. Camp Half-Blood doesn't welcome them with open arms when destruction fills the place, and all fingers point towards them. When their fate is written on three measly bits of paper, they must pull together to fulfill it. A gambler who will stop at nothing to save the innocent, an alcoholic with a mind so dark she might just go insane, and a girl whose courage just got lost along the way.

But when Rachel Dare has a fainting fit and reveals a prophecy that shatters the allusion that they'll have even a sort of normal life. Percy is yet again thrown into a quest that is going to take all of his powerful friends to accomplish. But the person he needs most will have to be left behind. Violet didn't ask for this. She never does. It was an accident. But she knows it's not. With the threat of getting kicked out of yet another school Violet has to keep her wits with her as she tries to brave the horrors of high school her senior year.
