Shifting Shadows

Shifting Shadows follows 14-year-old Matthew, a Black teen navigating life in an American hood in 2024. Raised by his Bahamian mother, Matthew is caught between the morals of his upbringing and the conflicting realities of the streets. With an absentee Haitian father he never knew Matthew struggles to navigate his identity and sense of manhood in a world filled with shifting moralities, societal pressures, and subtle contradictions. The novel explores the lives of Black teens, offering a nuanced look at the challenges they face in a complex and often unforgiving environment.
