     ᴡʜᴀᴛ ʟᴏᴠᴇ ғᴇᴇʟs ʟɪᴋᴇ:

Ariella moves to a new school, dreading having to make new friends and the whole idea of leaving her old ones.

She bumps into a guy. A guy who she thinks looks good. A guy who she realizes looks familiar. Good familiar. A familiar that could get her into trouble.

Tall. Dark hair. Same dark shade eyes. And a smile. The smile that she knew oh so well.

Noah. The only guy who matched her competitiveness to a point where she hated his guts.

They had grown up together.

But growing up together, didn't necessarily mean that they were friends.

It didn't even necessarily mean that they liked each other.

What happens when both get tangled up together and fall for each other without even noticing?

Band aids were always a must have when we were kids. Whether it was the time you tripped while skipping rope, or fell off the monkey bars, or got into one of those fights with the local bully, "No, that won't do" "What are you talking about, it sounds great so far! It's a lot better than what I can do." "This college essay has absolutely no direction". "Well, why are you telling me to come read it so far? Can't you just ask Josh- I mean, he's smart-" He shot up from his desk. "You know I can't do that!" "Oh yeah. Right, sorry. Look, why don't you ask him out already". Noah blushed furiously. I can't do that. What if he's not... you know... into guys? A-and we're already good friends, I don't want to risk our friendship over this. I saw what he meant. He stopped writing and looked up at me. I asked him, "Would you spend the rest of your life with him?" He sighed and put his hand over his heart. "Of course I would. He means everything to me". "Well, I know you'll take good care of him. Just try to ask him out to the dance. He paused, and smiled. "You know what, maybe I will. Thanks Sadie". "No problemo,'' I grinned. As I turned to leave, he stopped me. "And who might you ask out to the dance?" --- Sadie Hawkins is your average tomboy soccer girl. Her best friend Noah is a good student and a bit of a nerd. As the day of the school dance draws nearer, they are more pressured to ask out the people they like. But what happens if the people they like happen to be their closest friends? Mature, fifteen year old Carmen receives an unexpected surprise when she finds out her close friend - tall, grey-eyed, Josh - likes her. Despite the surprise, she can't deny the chemistry between them and so both teens agree to pursue more outside of their friendhsip. As things start off sweet, they turn a little sour as Carmen deals with the fact that Joshua has lots of unresolved emotional issues caused from a painful past. Meanwhile, Carmen is quite the opposite and deals with trust and committment issues. Carmen wants to be there for Josh and help him, but she doesn't know how when she can't even figure herself out. And so a journey of confusion and heartbreak begins... *WARNING* There is some mature language in some parts of the story This isn't a full on happy romance story The storyline may be a little confusing/complicated, but was made like that on purpose Characters and events = a mix of fiction and non-fiction Here are a few snippets... *** I looked at him sideways. "So, um, what are we?" I had to ask. Josh seemed taken aback but still answered casually. "What do you mean? Friends. Like always." I nodded again. Mm-hm. So friends who kissed. Yup, got it. Pretty clearly. "Alright." We headed upstairs to our second floor math class. *** "Yeah, but..." Joshua's voice was suddenly very quiet. It made me feel bad. "Realistically Carmen, we haven't been acting as 'just friends.'" He got louder. "In fact, for the past week or so, I've been considering you to be my girlfriend." He paused. "Is that wrong of me?" I sighed inwardly. "No. It's just, I think-" I searched for my words. "I think we're better off where we started. As two people who like each other and vibe well, but without a title to complicate things." I couldn't figure out whether I was just saying this as an excuse not to be with him. My mind was jumbled. "No title makes things more complicated." *** Enjoy!
