KonDo, a young boy of twelve winters, once lived a peaceful life in the quiet village of Lornveil, surrounded by the warmth of his family and the stories of ancient heroes his father told by the hearth. But his world was torn apart when the ruthless Black Fang clan descended upon his village, slaughtering his family before his eyes and enslaving him.

Now, a prisoner in the clutches of his enemies, KonDo endures unimaginable cruelty and suffering, including having his mouth sewn shut as punishment for his defiance. Yet, beneath the surface of his pain and silence, something dark and powerful begins to stir. The shadows, once mere figments of bedtime tales, start whispering to him, offering him the forbidden power of the shadow element.
