Nerys Whitaker has it all - a cushy column at History Lives!, a gorgeous flat in a Grade II listed building in a leafy part of London, and a relationship that's lasted more than a year. But in just one day, she loses her job to AI, finds an eviction notice stuck to her apartment door, and gets dumped by her partner who's fallen in love with someone else.

Hungover and depressed, she ends up in the British Museum archives with her best friend who shows her a mirror that suddenly appeared in a locked box dated to the time of Thutmose III. Despite being thousands of years old, it looks brand new. Nerys says it's a fake until she looks into it and finds herself transported into the apartment of Pharaoh Hatshepsut's daughter.

Now all she wants to do is get back home to McDonald's, hot showers, and electricity, but when she learns the goddess Hathor sent her to ancient Egypt to stop the Egyptian empire from going down the wrong track, changing history, and erasing her existence, she finds herself embarking on the adventure of her life.

‟Tonight shall be the first and last night that we spend together, Gianita, for I do not intend to produce heirs by this marriage. The Prince would still be my heir, even though you're the Empress.‟ ‟Then why keep me, Sire, if I am of no use to you? It's obvious that you do not intend to add any more members to the imperial family besides yourself and the Prince, so why marry me?‟ *** Gianita, a princess from an eastern country is sent to marry the widowed Emperor of Angletonia, a vast and prosperous empire in the western hemisphere. To her dismay, the Emperor prefers the companion of his young son instead of his new bride. There were no traces of his previous marriage, only that the wife died shortly after the Prince was born. With his past clouded with riddles, will she be able to unravel the mystery that is him? ━━━━━━━━ Featured on Wattpad profiles: @Romance, @Fantasy, @WattpadAsianFantasy, @HistoricalFiction, @WattpadHistoricalRomance, @WattpadMulticultural, @generalfiction and @cupid. I made a terrible mistake, I let my guard down when I shouldn't have. And that only led me into a trap, his trap. I was a pawn in this wicked game of chess, being used to unite two kingdoms. My life was controlled, confined within the ivory towers, a cruel destiny written before I was born. But I thought I was free at last. "No matter which road you choose, it will always lead you back to me, princess." I was a fool. He was my unwanted shadow, a darkness I couldn't shake off, catching me at every step of the way-leaving no room for escape. Slow burn/enemies to lovers.
