Young James Drummond sets sail from Liverpool, England, hoping to join his estranged uncle in the American colonies.
Instead, his life becomes a harrowing tale of danger, adventure, and surprises, in the company of a band of marauding pirates, led by the most feared pirate of them all, Blackbeard!
Among this unruly hoard is a pirate of the lowest order, One-Eyed Jack. He is considered a murderous villain even by the other pirates.
Fortunately for James, a freed African slave named Mercy, keeps a watchful eye on him.
