Our story begins with Hazel Blanchard, a teenage girl who attends one of the most upstanding college prep schools in California. She's chattery, silly, and can be awkward at times. However, despite the carefree, happy-go-lucky appearance she may give off, she is pretty lonely. She is not popular at school, has no real friends, and she's lucky if her parents are even home from work. Therefore, Miss Hazel takes it upon herself to be adventurous, a thrill seeker, and brave. Maybe that explains why she found that scrapbook of the dead body and didn't call the police.
All it took was a note to throw Hazel into a completely different life. One where she's forced to fake date her ex-childhood best friend to infiltrate Dawson Prep's notorious popular kids, the Elites.
The school's long history of lies, deceit, and secrets will soon be forced to unfold, and scandals will come to light. Hazel must balance this new sizzling romance with her ex-best friend and the harsh reality that some secrets are better left unknown and people are better off dead.
