I entered the garden area, hoping to find the person. The cookies I made were close to my chest, with the smell of butterscotch tickling my nose. Upon seeing him, my steps were halted and I gulped.
"It's either now or never, Adi go for it"
I proceeded to walk towards him. While I was reconsidering my decision to admit my feelings, I was determined to take the risk and express them unapologetically.
"hey, jimin."
"Hey, Adi."
He smiled, but his eyes were scanning my surroundings, likely hoping to find her.
"Are you by yourself? Where is Tina?"
I knew it.
"She's with others. Actually, I want to-"
"Others? Alright, let's join them."
Having gathered his belongings, he was ready to depart. My heart was pounding hard. I let the lump in my throat settle and opened my mouth to finish my broken sentences.
"Jim, I wanted to tell you something-."
"Adi, can I ask you a question?"
"Sure. What is it?"
"Does Tina have a partner? Is she seeing anyone? "
" T-Tina?"
"I believe that I have a liking for her. Is there a change you can make to set us up?"
He smiled and had hope shining in his eyes. I concealed the box of cookies behind my back and smiled.
"Sure"
My heart ached, but I wasn't taken aback. The truth is, this is the life I lead. Everyone has always chosen me as the second choice. I was never given the top priority by anyone I knew. I was never chosen as the first choice, and Jimin was just as special. People are always choosing the best, everyone doesn't want the average, and you know what's hilarious? I'm not exceptional.
