Adaline Deveraux has always known she's different from a very young age, even before she started manifesting her extraordinary gifts or knowing who her biological parents were. But those remarkable powers came with a price, one that kept her tucked away from society, not because her adoptive parents feared her but because of the target on her back. Humans didn't take kindly to mutants, especially since they were viewed abominable monsters of destruction, something Adaline feared she would become if she ever lost control of her powers, not that it was ever an issue, but she would never risk hurting innocent people. This was how, at the age of 16, she found herself under the wing of Charles Xavier at his School for Gifted Youngsters, after her parents agreed it was the best way to keep her safe. During her time there, she not only becomes a valuable and respected asset to the institution where she later grows to become a professor, but also one of the most powerful mutants of her generation to join the X-Men. Her past 10 years at the school have proven to be the best of her entire life, having formed meaningful relationships with the students and an unbreakable bond with her team, especially one rebellious mutant, but it all begins to unravel into a series of game-changing challenges when an old enemy starts getting too close to home.
