My father's father was a pirate. So, it's no surprise that my father followed the same path, his name feared across seas and whispered in dread from the Caribbean to the coasts of England. Captain of the Marigold, with its dark sails as black as the night, he led a crew of men as cold-hearted as the depths beneath them.

It was after they plundered a small coastal town near Kent that my father first saw my mother. She was not a prize of gold or jewels, but a woman working in the brothel. He did not take her as a pastime, but because, despite the blood on his hands, she somehow managed to steal his heart. And it was there, in the age of Blackbeard and dread, where the seas belonged to men like my father, that I was born.

But not all pirate tales end in love. My mother knew her fate the moment she fell for a man who lived by the sword, and it came to pass one bitter night when a rival pirate, Sam Belamur, stormed the Marigold. Belamur, with a smile as cruel as the edge of his blade, took her from this world, leaving only a hollow ache in my father's heart-and a burning desire for vengeance in mine.

Now, all that remains is the sea, my blood, and the legacy of revenge.
