Paulette Anya Lewis was in Grade 11 when she transferred to Dawn Santos Academy. For her, Grade 11 life seemed normal since she had no one to talk to, even though there were attempts to reach out. She was afraid that people just didn't like her. But towards the end of the school year, she became better known by most people and gradually started making friends. Some people noticed that she was often seen with a guy who didn't attend the school. This puzzled many because all the boys who tried to talk to her were ignored. It seemed that flirting was not in Paulette's vocabulary. So, they felt that Paulette was hiding something. However, they didn't know that the guy was actually her childhood friend. What will happen in Paulette's life when Grade 12 starts? Will she meet someone new? What does Paulette really feel towards others? Will she develop an interest in love eventually? In the day-to-day trenches of high school, it is almost the default-setting to believe we are the main character of our own coming-of-age story. This is not wrong. It's just ours isn't the only story there is. The jocks, the nerds, the cheerleaders, the losers, the stoners, the fangirls, the skaters. Everyone's the realest most important person in existence, all of them, at the same time, first-person narrators to their own stories, stumbling into each other's plot lines, defying the status-quo, catalysts to ups and downs. A deconstruction of all the high school tropes and cliches written over the years, a deep-dive into the psyche of students trying to finish high school while going through irrevocable self-discovery, the most improbable of connections, and the insufferable pains of growing up.
