It's been a month since the last meeting, those in charge of the nations agreeing to sort things out. Alfred and Ivan now rest in the state house, filled with chaos, defenestration and fire. They've got their work cut out for them that's for sure!
Meanwhile, an unknown letter has shown up. The states grow uneasy, Alfred isn't healing, and Ivan just wants his lover to be alright.
Something.. isn't right.. Just what's going on?

No Ships! i do be cringing at this very hard but I'll keep it up for y'all. note that the quality is very questionable and like most people i've reflected on the cringiness <3 The Ancients saw many of their children and grandchildren suffering alone, no one noticing the other's pain. The Storm [DISCONTINUED]
{STORY DISCONTINUED and I'm probably never gonna finish it whoops} The world is ending, obviously. America never really paid attention to the news, only Good Morning America, of course, but when the flooding and crippling storms started in the south and worked their way to D.C., he got nervous. There were warnings, scientists predicted the amount of blah, blah, science, science, random crap, big words. . . World catastrophe. The Storm. Bunkers and shelters were built, supplies were stocked, factories and farmers worked around the clock before the Storm could hit them. One might think the United States was prepping for war, and in a way, they were. They had to fight for their lives. Alfred is alone in a bunker, panicking for his people and brothers and the rest of the countries like Japan and Germany. He hears a distant muffled sound above the howling winds, a frightened little boy sits in the corner with an old stuffed bunny sucking his thumb. No one notices him. How is America supposed to protect hundreds of people and himself against a storm that could kill people in a number of ways? And now a kid had moved him to become his caretaker. When Alfred became independent from England, France had muttered to him that he didn't know the pain of raising a child then losing it. But know, he assumes that he may just learn. The Actor
Is the clown the fool of the story, or are you? After all, the clown knows it's an act, but the audience is so lost in it that they tend to forget. Alfred had lived a long life. He'd learned a lot in it. That England was easy to gaslight if you knew what you were doing. France would back away from any show of force. Germany could ignore a bumbling idiot even as the evidence piled up just because he wasn't very good with people. Poland saw everything and read people like a book. Prussia would keep his mouth shut if you gave him enough liquor or made him obedient. Russia would turn a blind eye if you turned one to him. China never trusted anyone even if there was evidence of the contrary. Union's Brood
After the second American Civil War, the world changes drastically. A new nation stood where the United States once was, the Last Empire having fallen to its own people. Addicted to more chemicals than a lab rat, Alfred has a hard time keeping his head up- quite literally. It's not that he doesn't want to quit- believe me, he does!- it's just that the withdrawal is destroying him from the inside out. What makes it worse, is when he's placed into an arranged marriage as a landgrab, and then told about it just before it happened. Now he is wrestling with both his addiction, and someone he was supposed to marry in 1860! Ivan was an addict, once. He understood the pain of withdrawal. He wants to help, since there was nobody around to help him. The idea of joining the Union was one he hadn't even thought of before his boss had arranged the marriage with the dictatrix. Now, he was thrown into a world he didn't know, forced to interact with people he had never met, and be one of the first nations, the third most powerful, to join a mega-nation. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Extra: Alfred is headcannoned as brown get over it. It's the 1950's and Alfred and Ivan have broken up after a major conflict between the two. Alfred just wants to move on, while Ivan isn't as willing to let go. In the midst of dealing with stress and paranoia, our favorite American also has to deal with an unpredictable temporary room mate who is still processing through the traumatic separation with his brother. One guy who's loved by the world, and one who's being punished by it. Who knew that it was so easy to overlook differences when the only thing you had in common was trauma? This is just a RusAme fanfic, there's really just a nice platonic friendship being formed with Alfred and Ludwig, with sprinkles of Gerita brought by your favorite hero. Matthew is kind to him, while Alfred is quite the opposite. Arthur soon discovers the devastating life the boys are living through.
