Maire, her parents, her brother, and her dog Axel, head to Europe in order for Maire to get surgery on her injured leg. During Hernandez's family trip to London, the five of them accidently get lost on their way, since all of the streets look exactly the same there. Maire gets surgery on her leg. Since Maire's surgery becomes successful, she still has to stay in London due to her physical therapy. There, Maire recognizes three familiar faces in the therapy's waiting room. Three months later, Maire manages to walk again without using her crutches, walker, or her wheelchair. Maire and her family including Axel and a new member of the family, a new labrador retriever puppy named Federico Uno "Buddy" Hernandez leave to go back to California. After a long trip back home, Maire reunites with her teammates along with Coach Abby and Coach Mica and finds out that her number zero isn't allowed, and has no choice but to choose the only remaining number left. However, throughout her time in soccer, Maire decides to make one final choice in which Christen and some of the players of the USWNT will disagree with her.
