Inferus, a bay pinto, was born in a terrible storm. He was struck blind in one eye when lightning set fire to the forest in which he was in, killing his mother.

The leader of the herd, son of Thowra, found Inferus in the cave where he was born, and after hearing his mother died he called him "Inferus", meaning death.
