The story revolves around a Japanese 2nd year high school boy, Ikehara Akio. Akio has only had passion for baseball and his friendship with childhood friend, Kawata Shoichi. However, the happy days pass when an unfortunate accident injures Shoichi during their last year of middle school, leaving Shoichi permanently unable to play baseball. Because of the guilt and the trauma of the accident, Akio is no longer able to play baseball and cannot forgive himself for what happened to Shoichi. On the other hand, Yano Suzume is a bright and friendly girl who Akio finds hard to handle at first.
