I left. I was such an idiot. I wish I didn't. I should have just stayed down. I should have. I should have just stayed down.

My name is Hale Xiley. The Dark Days have passed. And the Capitol is ready to take their revenge. I'm frightened, but ready. I'm scared, but strong.

And most importantly, I'm not a fighter, but a warrior. And I will not stop until I avenge who I need to avenge. My chance, my last fight, my last breath will be used to fight for who I need to fight for.

There will be no happy endings, nor any cliche plots of love and friendship and trust. Panem is not happy. Panem is not fair. My story is a depressing one.

This is my story.

"Theodore Cotton. Otherwise known as Panem's Prince Charming. Fairly talented with a sword, but it's his popularity you've got to watch out for. He's still the favourite victor of many of the older people in the Capitol and they're the ones with the money." Theo and Ari have been best friends since they were kids. He's never told her that he wishes they were more. Theo had expected Ari to be reaped, but now it's him on the train to the Capitol where he will undoubtedly die. He might as well accept it- no-one from District 8 ever wins- but with her still safe back home, he has a reason to keep fighting. Maybe if he wins, he can go home and they can live the life he's always dreamed of. But the life of a victor is not what it seems. Especially not when the people of the Capitol see you as their Prince Charming. I started this before Sunrise on the Reaping and still haven't read it so it's not going to have anything from that book in it even though it's set from the 49th Games onwards. Updates every Tuesday at 12pm GMT. Multi-POV Male OCx Fem OC Pre-hunger games onwards. I do not own the Hunger Games. All rights belong to Suzanne Collins. Also, I don't know if some of the fairytales I used as inspiration are copyright, but if they are, I don't own them either. Typical Hunger Games trigger warnings: violence, child murder, prostitution, teen pregnancy, mild language, rape, sexual assault, innuendo and sexual references. If you think I should change it to mature at any point, please tell me. I wasn't sure.

When Kira Blackwood's name is reaped, she knows she's screwed. How is she supposed to survive in a fight to death with twenty-three other tributes, all of whom want to get out alive as much as she does? Not to mention, the thought of killing somebody twists her stomach into all sorts of unnatural shapes. Despite secretly training for the Games in the cow pastures surrounding her home, and being pretty handy with a knife, Kira's kind heart may be the thing that holds her back the most. However, as she navigates through the opulent world of the Capitol, and then the arena itself, Kira starts to realize that maybe, just maybe, it's not the dead she should pity, but the Victor. After all, no one ever really wins the Hunger Games. Survives, sure. But wins? Never. ~~+~~ Please Note: This is set in a world where the 2nd Rebellion failed. All usurpers were executed (except those pesky star-crossed lovers, who knows where they ran off to), District 13 was destroyed for good (but District 12 was rebuilt, on the basis that the Capitol realized that it actually really needed coal), and the Hunger Games were reinstated. Disclaimer: I don't own any of the rights to the Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, or to the Lionsgate adaptation of her books. (Obviously.) All characters of my creation are copyrighted. ~~+~~ Thank you so much for reading this, it really means so much to me!!! :) I hope you enjoy, and love it as much as I do! (Also sorry for the length, I sort have this thing for details... and long, run-on sentences... and long, run-on sentences stuffed with details...) Please note: I don't have a ton of free time, so as much as I love writing this, updating it will probably be super irregular. It's basically completed, the only reason that it's still marked as "ongoing" is bc I still want to write a few more scenes after the Games like the interviews and stuff, maybe of the Victory Tour, but I'm just not super motivated rn, lol.
