Avery Montiero is a fire officer, driven by a sense of duty and by the expectations of her father. Though her profession as a firefighter is her duty, her true passion lies in cooking, a dream stifled by her father's strict prohibitions which silently burns her.

Meanwhile, Seian Jey Lirazan, transfers to their station as their new fire captain. Unbeknownst to her fellow officers, Seian is Avery's childhood best friend, someone she has secretly loved for years.

Avery has always admired him, her feelings flare up like a flame yet it seems to dissipate into the smoke, invisible to Seian.
