Kokushibo envied his brother. He envied Yoriichi until the day the man died of old age. He envied and loathed Yoriichi Tsugikuni. After Yoriichi's death, Kokushibo's life was... better. He grew stronger, like he wanted to. He buried the memories of his brother in the depts of his mind.

However, those memories are brought back up when he encounters a young Demon Slayer, who resembles Yoriichi too much.
------------
Tanjirou Kamado never expected to encounter Upper Moon 1 on his mission. And he also never expected for this to be his fate.

Life is an unpredictable game, and he is only one of the players.

(This is a rewrite of a crappy old book which I have now deleted. This idea was inspired by this fanfic on Ao3: https://archiveofourown.org/works/47640022 PLEASE go read it)

BEING RE WRITTEN Book 2 Tanjiro smelled it before he saw her. It was faint, buried beneath moonlight and cold air, but unmistakable - the scent of death. Not fresh blood, not rot. Something older. Something that made his chest tighten instinctively. Muzan. The resemblance wasn't physical alone. It clung to her presence, seeped from her skin as though the night itself had marked her. She stood beside a tall man Tanjiro didn't recognize, her posture calm, composed - too calm. Her red eyes mirrored Muzan's almost perfectly: sharp, unblinking, merciless at a glance. It ignited something hot and ugly in Tanjiro's chest. His grip tightened on his sword. And yet... he didn't know her. She wasn't attacking. She wasn't threatening. She was simply *there*. The woman exhaled softly, as though just remembering herself. "Ah," she said, voice smooth, unhurried. "How rude of me." Her gaze met his, steady and unflinching. "I am Kizuki," she continued. "The Moon Pillar." The words landed heavily. Tanjiro remained tense, every sense on edge. Had she met Muzan? Had she stood beside him? Why did his scent cling to her like a shadow that refused to fade? Yet she stood among the Corps. Accepted. Trusted. That frightened him more than anything else. "Nice to meet you!" Tanjiro said brightly, forcing a smile that didn't reach his eyes. "I'm Kamado Tanjiro." He hated how practiced the lie felt. Even if the Corps had accepted her - even if she called another Pillar her sister - that scent didn't lie. So Tanjiro smiled. And wondered what the moon had claimed from her... and what it might still be hiding. This is book two of 'Children of the Moon' series

As her brother was slowly massacred, a boy named Tanjiro saved her before she was devoured. She watches as the boy gives it his all to kill the demon, with a feeling of serenity that lingered in her heart. She was motivated to do the same for other, so she joins the Demon Slayer Corps, with the goal of wanting nobody else to feel the same despair and pain that she and proabably many other demon slayers had to go through, because of 𝘔𝘶𝘻𝘢𝘯 𝘒𝘪𝘣𝘶𝘵𝘴𝘶𝘫𝘪.
