Did Aru want to go to the new years party? No. Would she rather be on her couch in her pajamas watching Lord of the Rings while eating way too much Swedish Fish? Who wouldn't? Her father. Her father wouldn't. He wanted her to go there and "socialize" which was code for "you need to find someone to marry because your life's really sad". It was some party for his law firm he started with one of his friends too, not even like a rager which would've been mildly fun.
Aiden's father was a crappy one at best. So when Aiden's dad made him the photographer at some stupid new year's party that he was throwing for his law firm, of course he protested. But he couldn't look at his mom so happy about it and still tell her that he didn't wanna do it.
So he was still the photographer.

(Aru x Aiden forever :D) (Also, this takes place right after Aru Shah and The City Of Gold.) The first time that the pandavas met Kamadeva, it went well. They returned his bow, and he gave them magical gifts. This time, however, things go sour. Kamadeva curses Aru, saying that she is doomed to fall in love with someone who didn't love her back. (Looks like he learned a few tricks from Aphrodite...) Fortunately... that curse might not be true. Aru's POV- I've always liked Aiden. Forever, and ever, and ever... But now he knows.
