so uh... new version of this I'm doing.
in the present day, dr eggman is planning his next attack to sonic as usual, but then sage shows up to ask how their beef started to begin with since she picks up on the fact that eggman always has a desire to beat sonic ever since she was fully formed in the starfall islands but never really knew how it started due to eggman erasing data from his past. (he erased it as there's simply no point in keeping it for long.)
eggman than tells her the actual story because hed rather just get this out of the way so she doesn't annoy him for a long time.

Sonic and the Multiverse
One day when Sonic and his friends decided to pay a visit to their enemy Dr.Eggman turns out it was all a trap. Eggman has built a vortex to other universes in attempt to look for other energy or powers to try to harness and use to take over the world. But something goes wrong. The machine malfunctions, causing everything around it to get sucked in. Eggman escapes and Sonic's friends go after him. Sonic on the other hand starts getting sucked into the portal, he tries to escape but fails and is going across the multiverse trying to find his way back home. This'll be the biggest adventure of his life, meeting new friends, discovering new universes, new foes, might end up having to save the multiverse. ¿Will Sonic succeed? Only one way to find out. Stranded (A LoZ x Sonic The Hedgehog Fanfic)
Eggman is on the loose again and Sonic, along with Tails, Knuckles and Amy, gather to stop him. But, when it looks like they cleared all of the robots, Shadow shows up, brainwashed by Eggman, and fights the group. This gives Eggman the perfect distraction, after getting rid of Tails off his back, to aim his "deadly" weapon to them, which, in typical Eggman fashion, backfires, affecting everyone mentioned. Eggman was defeated again by sonic and his friends but eggman found a strange artifact that is not from his world so he try to use it against sonic and his friends but it teleported them to another world.
