Brittany Levine is a fourteen year old Assassin for the Crimson Ire, a rebel group residing in California. She is the heir to the group and the leader of the Court of Moonshadows. In her court is Bianca Raven, Rayni Foster, Grayson Parks, Jolie Cameron, Nour Kerlof and Marella Clemmines. Her mentor, Jason Layard, sends her on a mission to retrieve an ancient artefact.

    Kieran Hawthorne is the fifteen year old son of Katrina, the head of Golden Fury, the Moonshadows rival. Him and his Court of Sunstars, consisting of him, Jameson Solace, Adeline Prieto, Brandon and Lia Jacob's, Jasper Song and Asher Raven are sent on a quest to steal Hecate's torches. Coincidentally, that's the same artefact the Moonshadow Court is after.

    The two courts are eternally at war and are now both after the same thing. Who will get there first?
