He hesitated for a moment before grinning back. "Just don't kill us or anything."
"No promises!" I teased, revving the engine again, the sound rumbling like thunder through the still air. His arms wrapped around my waist as he climbed onto the motorcycle behind me, and I could feel the warmth of his body pressing against my back.
With the wind whipping around us, we took off down the highway. I pushed the bike faster, and I could feel Toby's grip tighten around my waist, his heartbeat drumming against my back as he laughed joyfully, a sound he only made when he was with me. For a fleeting moment, we were two souls liberated from all burdens. Life felt like it stretched infinitely before us, untainted by fear or anguish......
