Fourteen year old Mauve Wiley has no special characteristics. She's not athletic, particularly smart, or musically inclined. She doesn't even have good handwriting. But, she's extremely lucky, having survived a hurricane that wiped out almost the entire population of her small beach town in North Carolina. Almost. Mauve and her grandmother, along with their house, remained the only unscathed family.
That's just the big thing, though. Money tends to show up randomly and the pedestrian signal always turns on the second Mauve is ready to cross. It's weird, but it's not something to complain about.
Mauve is just a very lucky, normal girl.
So, imagine how insane it is when a saytr shows up at her front door claiming she's a demigod.
