[THIS WORK IS BEING REWRITTEN - PLEASE STAND BY] The team was still vulnerable after Ian Doyle's case and the reveal that Emily faked her death. Across the globe, an Interpol agent is forced to transfer or go to prison. Erin Strauss sees the potential. Two birds with one stone. The broken family learns to heal as they take in a new broken member. The trust they had in each other needs to be rebuilt properly, no matter what Emily says or wants, and another set of hands will help. Alt: I really disliked the beginning of season 7 and how everyone just moved on and forced Reid to forgive them, and frustrated with writers dropping so many characters' arcs in general. Also, I'm trying to write my first ever OC insert.

"Look, there's been some kind of misunderstanding, all right?" The woman before her pleaded, her voice cracking as the machines beside her beeped, seemingly louder with each passing minute. JJ knew she was okay. The team had been told as much by the doctors, but still. She looked helpless in that hospital bed. Small. Scared. JJ hated it. "I- I don't know what happened." "I know." JJ sighed. The woman before her scoffed. "And yet, I'm still here. You're still here. Interrogating me like I'm some... Like I'm some... I'm innocent! I didn't- I- I didn't do anything." "I'm not here to interrogate you." JJ said, her tone soft but firm as it usually was with... With the victims of other cases. She sighed again as she stepped further into the room and closer to the hospital bed. "I'm here to interview you. To understand." "There's nothing to understand." She cried, her distress evident in her tone and the way she brought an arm closer to her chest while her nails scratched at her skin. JJ took notice of it. JJ knew it wasn't like her to keep her nails undone for too long. She wasn't vain - not anymore than JJ herself was - but if there was one thing she always made a point of having done, it was her nails. "I don't even know what happened."
