Dan and Phil were just two nerdy guys who became friends online, and began making YouTube videos for their own hobby and joy. Little did they know just how big it would become over the many years. In these years, they had poured in so much hard work, and dedication, only to face the toxicity of the internet amongst fans. Yet, they navigated their way through everything, pushing through and battling their own mental health in the process. But happens when Dan isn't content just being friends.. how could he possibly navigate that?

Dan had lived a normal life. No good friends and no big problems but all this changes when he meets Phil. Phil was the new kid who always seemed to be happy and hyper, but was he really? Phil is completely the opposite from Dan, never gets in trouble, quiet and doesn't have any friends. Trying to double depression and his grades, how will he deal with a new kid in his class? Will all his secrets be revealed? And will the bullying stop? Dan crosses Phil on his first day, and things don't start in the best way. Phil doesn't need help, but Dan is adamant he helps the boy through his years at college. What will happen when things turn upside-down for the both of them? And soon, his depression may end up falling to deep. He gets hateful and rude comments on his videos that he posts to YouTube. He even gets hate on Twitter, Facebook, and Tumblr. What did he ever do to them? What did he do to deserve any of this?? His flatmate Dan doesn't know about Phil's depression, however. All he knows (thinks, rather) is that his best friend is staying strong through all of the hateful things he gets from people. But in reality, that's not what Phil is doing at all. He's not staying strong through the hate. He's just faking the smile for Dan so he wouldn't get so worried about him. Sure, Dan might be able to crack some real smiles out of him once in a while, but not every time. He also wears long sleeves and thick bracelets to hide the scars of his pain.
