What would you do if you came across a dead man and accidentally stole his watch? For Luc it was to be a game changer. The problem? The dead man was a murdered spy with a dark secret. Consequent events throw Amy, the dead spy's daughter, and Luc together in a search to find the truth about her father. It takes them on a breathless chase across the world as they become unlikely heroes catapulted into the dark and dangerous world of state secrets, international espionage, Russian assassins and Iranian double agents in this compelling, surprising and often dark story.

Many years ago I came across a dead man at a waterfall and although I didn't accidentally steal anything it provided the start point for this story. I also worked with the intelligence services in the UK and this has helped with some of the parts of the story.

This is my first novel, although I've had two non fiction books published and have contributed to many articles in international newspapers.

Word count: about 85,000 words, 70 chapters, all written, currently editing and releasing on a regular basis.

Guns, revenge and buildings to bomb, what could go wrong? ✮ He came in, gun held out in front of him in one hand while the other was resting on his hip where a sharp dagger gleamed in the light. "Come on out little girl, why not make this easier for both of us. The agency you ran away from just want to have a little talk, that's all." She scoffed internally. Yeah right. Then the footsteps ceased. She peeked to the right, then to the left. Neither direction showed any sign of the intruder. She looked up in front of her and gasped, the glint of steel and smell of death as overwhelming as it was adrenaline inducing, exciting. "Boo." ✮ Murder, accidents, assassinations. Call it what you will, it's all the same, all has the same life breaking, mind shattering consequences - be it for the victim or the bystander. It had shaped Alex in a way no one should be. Broken down and rebuilt into the perfect soldier, one who had the power to change the world, to fight battles that would either make or break the carefully constructed vision we all live in. The only small, minute, really unimportant detail - it's pretty hard to get into a government classified site when you're 15 years old and have a rag-tag team of double-crossing back-stabbers behind you. Not to mention the threat of a world war and ghost hanging above your head. Armed with sarcasm, wit, and a hell of a lot of aggressive intentions, it won't be too long till a sticky situation is all that's ahead of you. Sometimes, running head-first into a situation isn't the best idea. Instead, you gotta play a game. A deadly game where either you have all the pieces on the board, or you have nothing. Life has never been the same for Hector Kane since he was ousted from the CIA two years ago. His marriage to the intelligent and beautiful Yubi is unraveling after the death of their only son. His teaching job at an elite university in the Middle East has failed to fulfill him as he had hoped. His heart and mind are still caught up in his adventurous past as a spy. So, when the CIA offers him a chance to return, he accepts without hesitation. This could be his only opportunity to salvage his marriage and live the life he always dreamed of. His mission seems deceptively simple: take his wife and five of his students to a romantic island in the South China Sea. More details will be revealed in Asia. However, once in Asia, things become increasingly bizarre. Hector starts to question the nature of his mission when the CIA instructs him to infect one of his students with a deadly virus. As if that isn't enough, Hector soon receives a call from a Saudi prince claiming that Yubi is a spy for the Chinese government-and that she has seduced and kidnapped the prince's son. Unable to confide in the CIA, Hector is forced to act alone. He must reevaluate his relationship with his wife and rethink everything he believed about his marriage, his mission, and himself. "A knotty and satisfying tale of action, drama, and secrets." - Kirkus Reviews "Engrossing... Hawkes keeps the twists coming... Fans of superior post-Cold War spy fiction will be satisfied." - Publishers Weekly

"𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘳𝘵𝘺 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘴, 𝘔𝘪𝘬𝘩𝘢𝘪𝘭. 𝘛𝘏𝘐𝘙𝘛𝘠 𝘠𝘌𝘈𝘙𝘚!!" The ghost realm is where all people, good and bad alike, go after death. Most people lived happy and fulfilled lives upon entering the afterlife. You could live anywhere you wanted, and you could live in any timeline you imagined. For Mikhail though, Not so much. Mikhail's family had been cursed with getting hurt and feeling pain after death, for things unexplainable while they were alive. It was like they never died in the first place! However, It wasn't so bad for a while, going on the same routine every morning waking up, eating, staring, reading, and sleeping. There was only one 𝘴𝘮𝘢𝘭𝘭 problem. Someone Mikhail knew manifested their life (and death) to make sure he wouldn't live comfortable immortality. Only then Mikhail realized he needed help, even if he didn't want it, reuniting with someone unexpected... I hope you enjoy reading it!
