In Japan, the school year is about to end. Most students in the country are celebrating, rejuvenated after their winter break and ready to power through the last three months of school. The first-year classes at U.A. Academy are trying to find the same excitement, but with a spike in widescale villain activity and the retirement of the Symbol of Peace, All Might, they're struggling.

Bakugo Katsuki is struggling all the same, though the class doesn't seem to be aware of it. It was his failure that caused All Might to push himself past his limits, exhausting the last remnants of the quirk he'd gifted to another. Even worse, that gift was bestowed upon the boy he'd always felt surpassed him: Midoriya Izuku. There's only one person in the class he can trust to keep themself alive amidst what some pros are saying is an oncoming war.
Aizawa Misako is also struggling, more than her classmates can even conceptualize. Her investigations into the League of Villains keep falling short while their attacks keep getting bigger, bolder. She was never one to let stress overtake her, but it's a difficult thing to fend off when she's having fainting spells that prevent her from taking her place alongside the other pros. She's leaning desperately on the few people in her life she can truly trust, especially the one who's never feared her, despite the monster she is.
So why is it that a boy angry at the world and a girl trying and failing to prove herself to it find so much solace in one another, even when they're both dying?
