Damon and Elijah enemies to lovers :
Centuries-old enmity between Damon and Elijah originates from a betrayal fueled by a grave misunderstanding. They fought together years ago to protect mystic falls. When a cunning ploy was played to allow the completion of the dark prophecy, Elijah was convinced that Damon had betrayed them by striking a deal with the witches to run vampires out of mystic falls. Angry and hurt he killed Damon's best friend Kaira Patel, creating the world's first heretic. Even though she came back to life, Damon was filled with bitterness and resentment towards him. This ignited a deep-seated hatred that lingers over time. Fate intervenes, compelling the duo to uncover an ancient prophecy together, as mysterious events unfold, signaling the return of the prophecy. The dark prophecy could lead to the end of the supernatural world as they know it along with any loopholes post death. After all it was their alliance that delayed the prophecy centuries ago and once again they will realise their collaboration is the only thing that can stop the prophecy despite their reluctance to working with each other. As they delve into deciphering the prophecy, Damon and Elijah begin to see beyond their past grievances. Shared moments of vulnerability foster mutual respect, leading to a gradual shift in their dynamic.
