Return to Earth
This is a completed novel that has been proofed. Editing will begin in April, 2022. Shortly after the first ships were sent to colonize Mars all communication with Earth was lost. The other ships that were supposed to arrive never did. What had started as the first of many became the only ones. Domes were built to protect the people living there, since Mars could not be conquered as the early scientists had hoped. Rather than their dreams of taming a planet, they settled for living with a place never meant for humans. Kierst is one of the descendants of those early settlers and works on the interior of one the domes. His job gives him the solitude he prefers with both work and home. He has no family and no friends, which is one of the reasons he is chosen to learn the truth about what happened to Earth and why everyone on Mars must return. He is among a small group who are entrusted with the greatest secret of his government. If his group fails, there will be no future for those living on Mars. On the day she is set to marry her fiancé, Daria (Ria) Diles is tasked by the International Space Agency (ISA) with a standard reconnoitre mission on Mars. Becoming the youngest flight captain at the age of twenty-two has Ria jumping to prove herself to the agency, so she accepts her orders without hesitation. However, the routine orbit and observe mission quickly takes drastic turns when their module is pulled by unknown gravitational forces and explodes on Mar's surface. Stranded on a foreign planet with no way home, the crew of the Luna Module find themselves in a remorseless fight for survival. The man stops only an arm's length away from me. I stare up at him with wide eyes, my lips parted in fear. I stand frozen, unable to move. I shut my eyes, turning my head away. Laboured breathing, the touch of fingertips on my bare shoulder, breath on my lips. A heavy, deep inhale. Slow exhale.
