Promise- I never will

In the dance of life, a promise broken,
Like a leaf in the wind easily a token.
Heart heavy as the burden of a lie unfold,
When the one we promised proved weary and cold.

Yet the truth reveals a harsh light,
As shadows fade, we see with new sight.
A whispered pledge that could not withhold,
To one whose heart remained dark and untold.

So let it be a lesson learned, a journey of growth,
Amidst the pain, find strength and newfound oath.
For in the trials of deceit and woe.
We discover the true worth of those we bestow.

And as fast as a promise is made, as fast comes the guilt and fear of ever breaking it.. or not being able to ever break it?
