After everything that had occurred, mom tried to hide her emotions. She tried to hide her pain. Even after I asked so many times if she was okay. I knew by looking into her green eyes that she was no where near okay. The death of our family's death was still very fresh in our lives. It seemed as if as the months passed, mom and I slowly drifted away. We had hardly spoke that's why it surprised me so much that one day after dinner she so suddenly said.
"We are moving to Colorado." It took me a while to process the words being thrown at me. Me moving to Colorado. Everything I had was here in Arkansas. Yes, I admit I would sometimes daydream about traveling and exploring different parts of the world I had never been to. I would even wonder what it would feel like to move but now, now that it was actually happening I didn't know how to feel. I felt a lump forming in my throat. I was interrupted out of my thoughts when my mom spoke again.
"I know this is so unexpected sweetie but I've been offered a new job there and plus a little trip could do us no harm."
No harm. Right.
