i used to think in that moment, that moment of complete free fall, when it seemed as if the whole world was to fall apart, there was a little twinge of hope, at the bottom of my gut.

maybe the world had wanted something from me.

if i could hold on long enough, maybe there would be a reward, a reward, like the pirates x marks the spot. like a new civilization. like a new hope, a new chance of a new life, a second try.
