After the war against the diabolical and mortal Hel, the Twelve Knights brought eternal peace to the world. It is revealed that the promised woman is a servant of her uncle Beltharion, who is eager for the throne. After his failed attack on the palace, he is exiled and his companion executed. Beltharion, falling into a ditch, leans against the roots of what appears to be a tree, under which he expresses a desire to be powerful and dies, making a blood pact with the sleeping Hel, freeing him.
