Madeline Reed, a 19-year-old high school graduate, is unable to move on from her breakup with Ethan Foster. She can't accept the pain of their split and eventually becomes desperate to stay in his life, Madeline creates multiple fake online profiles to reach out to Ethan, accessing fake names, pictures from the internet, and inventing detailed backstories to make the profiles as believable as possible. She sets up accounts on various platforms, immersing herself in these false identities. As Ethan falls for one of the personas she's crafted, Madeline finds herself trapped in a web of secrets. Everytime Ethans mentions a phone call or being able to meet in person, Madeline is consumed by the fear of revealing the truth and losing him for good. Will she keep up the charade and risk deeper entanglement, or come clean and face the consequences of her obsessions?
