Years after the events of Love Live: School Idol Project, Otonokizaka High School is experiencing a resurgence of interest in School Idols. A young girl that goes by the nickname "Cereza" represents the high school of Akihabara in an effort to give her school another victory at the Love Live, however when everyone thought she was going to win it all in her second year, she vanished. Not even giving an explanation to the organizers and leaving everyone disappointed, including a young girl from Kansai called Misa Haruno.
Misa admires school idols from a very young age, and wanted nothing more than to reach high school in order to follow in the steps of Cereza, but specially Honoka Kosaka, her number 1 idol. However, when Misa enters high school she is met with nothing but rejection from her peers, as no one wants to join her in forming a school idol club. Her luck changes in her second year, as her family is forced to move into Tokyo. In her mind there's no doubt, her school of choice is Otonokizaka.
Now in a school known for their idol history, she expects to join in the Idol Club as soon as possible, however she is met with the news that the club has been shut down. What happened to the club? Will Misa's dream end even before it started? And what happened to Cereza?
