The Wall was created to house all non-magical beings in a safe space. Unfortunately for Auden, The Wall is the only safe place for non-magical beings to live and the Elders control everything in The Wall leaving no room for freedom. Even so, all Auden really has to do is marry General Relm Lancourt. There's only one problem, Auden and Relm have hated each other since day one, but it only grew worse when he involved himself in the disappearance of Auden's best friend Iriana.
After a mysterious string of odd magical occurrences and discovering some truth about the disappearance of Iriana, she learns that Iriana might not be dead and the Elders might play a sinister role in all of it. Auden learns that though she might not be a magical being, she is part of an ancient race of Protectors, but what exactly is she protecting? And from whom? Oddly enough, the only person she can trust is the most unlikely of characters. The Dark Lord himself.
Though the Dark Lord is unbelievably handsome, she doesn't know what version of him she'll get most days. Usually, he's a dream. Unfortunately though, there's those days where he falls a little off kilter. However, the Dark Lord's not exactly mad... not yet anyway. Even so, Auden has no choice, he's the only person Auden can trust thanks to the magical bond that tethers them together. They end up on a journey to find an ancient magical stone that could obliterate their worlds if it falls into the wrong hands. But, who is to say that the wrong hands aren't the Dark Lord's? Auden's left with one decision- find the stone no matter what. After that? It's up to Auden to decipher the visions from a dark Witch. The same visions that are telling her, there's more to the bond than a magical tether to save the world. Auden's bound to the Dark Lord in more ways than one. Both good and bad.

Taken away from her at a young age were the only two people who would love her no matter what-her parents. Their love was all-consuming, the kind that anchored her, until the day it vanished in a single breath, a flash of arrows. Now, all she had left was the memory of that love-a fragile thread she clung to, one that only made the darkness around her grow deeper. By the age of nineteen, Valrie and her sister found themselves in an orphan house, working the land to survive. They grew and harvested ingredients, selling them to market buyers and the kingdom to stay afloat. But desperation leads to mistakes, and one day, they were caught "stealing" from the kingdom itself. The punishment was swift, and they were dragged to Eirondale-a breathtaking kingdom with towering castles and lush landscapes, ruled by a cold-hearted dynasty that thrives on power and control. The beauty of the kingdom was suffocating, like a thorned rose, stunning yet deadly. Among the grand halls and cold stone walls, Valrie soon caught the eye of not one, but two princely brothers, both equally dangerous and cruel in their own ways. But it wasn't just the princes. The King-ruthless and feared-had taken a darker interest in Valrie. In this world of beauty and malice, where power ruled and compassion was scarce, Valrie had unknowingly become a pawn in a game far more sinister than she could have imagined. Now, she had to navigate the dangers of a royal court, where everyone wore a mask of grace but wielded daggers of ambition and deceit behind their backs. The princes might toy with her heart, but the King... he could destroy her entirely.

As long as people believed that there was a division between the Gifted and the non-Gifted, that one was superior to the other, I wasn't done. As long as there were kings on thrones to reinforce the idea that people like Porter and Briar and everyone else I cared about were unworthy of this world, I wasn't done. "And then," I continued, a resolution forming in my mind. DISCLAIMER: This is a story I wrote in 2008 and it's the very first story that I wrote and finished when I started writing so I still have the whole story saved for the memories. But I recently discovered Wattpad thanks to a few lovelies (you all know who you are... *ahem* thanksgiving *ahem* ;) ) and I've decided to get back into writing. This story has a lot of meaning to me so I do intend to publish the whole story. I have published this story on the internet already on two different sites so if you do see it, just note that no, I didn't steal this story off someone else, I promise! :) If you are interested in seeing the unedited versions from 6 years ago, I'd be more than happy to send you the link via PM. In all honesty though, I have made a few embellishments. Nothing major, just the vocabulary really but the plot and characters are all completely the same. However, if you haven't read the unedited versions in the first place thenjust enjoy :P How often I update this story will be up to you guys and your feedback. If I get a positive response, then the next chapter will be up much sooner. All feedback is appreciate, even the baddies! :) Enjoy! Love you all E. Reignheart ~<3~
