A case of pies and plotting

A charming criminal known as "Professor" rents rooms above a bakery owned by a pious old woman named Mrs. Wilberforce under the guise of being a professor of music. In truth, he is assembling a crew for a sophisticated casino heist.

Over time, Mrs. Wilberforce grows suspicious of the unsavory characters occupying her rooms and their strange latenight activities. She begins sneaking around, hoping to discover what illicit schemes they are hatching.

Unaware they are being watched, the crew finalizes the details of their high stakes heist. On the night of the job, everything appears to be going according to plan until an unforeseen mishap forces them to abruptly flee the casino with less money than they'd hoped to steal.

Desperate to tie up any loose ends, Professor decides Mrs. Wilberforce has become too much of a liability. He hatches a plot to do away with her so she can never reveal what she knows to the police. But the old widow is more clever and resourceful than anyone realizes, and she may just outwit the criminals in their own deadly game.
