"Your trauma isn't something to be ashamed of." Cassiel watched Aaliyah speak, the innocence in her eyes piercing through the shadows of his dark soul.

'𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐦𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐞. 𝐏𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞. 𝐈'𝐦 𝐧𝐨 𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮,'
he thought but never said. He feared his curse and its impact on those he cared for, yet he couldn't bear the thought of losing her.

"Even if you're right... there's nothing I can teach you," he replied, avoiding her gaze as an unfamiliar warmth washed over him. "I've forgotten how to live." His voice turned distant again.

But then, he felt her small hands gently grasp his chin, guiding his gaze back to hers. "Then we can learn together, silly," she said with a soft laugh, her words wrapping around him like a comforting embrace. In that moment, Cassiel felt himself slipping deeper into the very trap his curse had laid.

With love came fear-fear for himself, fear for her.

'𝐀𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐲𝐚𝐡, 𝐈 𝐛𝐞𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮. 𝐉𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐦𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐞.'

Let Me Explain

"You're quiet." Easton took notice of my usual demeanor, recognizing that being quiet or detached wasn't something that I normally was. "Because I'm in a car with a stranger." He glanced over, left hand still resting on the steering wheel as his brown eyes met mine for a short second. "Do you kiss strangers?" "You kissed me." "You kissed me back." "I didn't want to be rude." I lied, knowing I liked it. I also knew that my response would irritate him, so I kept my eyes on him. The passing streetlights illuminated his features, allowing me to analyze and read every reaction that would become visible. A smile touched his lips as his tongue pressed the side of his mouth. He turned to meet my eye when we stopped at a red light. "That's why you moaned in my mouth, right?" I paused, being caught off guard as words weren't able to form in my mouth. Instantly, I broke eye contact with him as I switched my gaze to the windshield, staring straight. "What?" A teasing smile still playing across his lips. "Is this situation suddenly not funny anymore?" **********
