The eight packs remaining built villages in the mountains while the humans below finished warring with each other. The two packs that seized control of the northern wolves enacted policies to trade females like breeding stock, using repopulation as an excuse to oppress them in perpetuity.

But not all the packs agree with the regime, and nothing is as it seems. The Shadow wolves in the south know the truth about the deaths of their mothers, and they are willing to sacrifice themselves as breeders in order to raze their enemies to the ground.
