As long as he could remember, Miya Osamu had fallen in love with a fantasy told in childhood stories and the cracked, dulcet voice of his mother, harboring a dream to set foot on America with his family and childhood favorite dish of mackerel onigiri.
From a small town of Washington to the tinseled city of San Francisco, Osamu in his next decades of youth would rise to pinnacles and descend into depths of his life, learning everything in between, all while intertwining himself in the life of Chinatown's Suna Rintarou, the boy he loved.
Cupid, the Roman god of love, is bored as he sits around his palace until he gets a prayer one day from a woman, regarding her son. He waits until Miya Osamu is of age before sending people his way, but Osamu doesn't take to any of them.
After too many failed attempts, he decides to descend upon Earth as a human named Suna Rintarou to investigate why Osamu won't fall for anyone. (And ends up falling in love with him in the process.)
