Alaena has sworn off love. She's seen first-hand the kind of havoc it can wreak on a heart -- not to mention a kingdom -- and she's determined to avoid that curse. So, with her father's health declining and his throne beckoning, Alaena must find a partner to secure her place as the next queen of the Actias Fae.
Seven suitors vie for her hand, but her heart is not part of the bargain.

An honest day's work is a new concept to Cyd. He spent the last few years as a thief, but now that his band of ruffians has disbanded, he's not sure what the Fates have in store. At least, not until one of the Actias suitors offers him a job in the palace. He is supposed to be a gift for the princess, her own personal bard, but the job turns out to be much more than he bargained for.

With a bard who doubles a thief and a spy, Alaena will surely be able to select the most practical mate from among her suitors. But as late-night meetings with her songbird grow later, and their schemes grow evermore entwined, she begins to wonder if love's curse is truly such a terrible burden to bear.

Cole Glassad couldn't care less about the upcoming palace ball meant to find a wife for the prince. Her life is down in the dangerous Sparkstone mines, slaving away for a few coins that her stepmother and stepsister promptly steal. With life a living hell, she has barely enough energy to care for the injured animals she tends in secret, much less a party for the royal family that cares so little for her and the people like her. It isn't until a mysterious man appears out of the shadows, claiming to be one of the long-lost faeries and offering her a chance at freedom, that she begins to see hope. In exchange for enough money to free herself from her family, the faerie asks only for one thing in return-- that Cole attends the ball in order to get close enough to the prince to assassinate him and bring an end to the corrupted royal line. With her mission clear, Cole enters the world of the palace to learn about the prince and find a way into his ball. But dark secrets, violent plots, a strange sense that perhaps the prince isn't as bad as the faerie makes him seem, and a life-changing discovery about her past, all conspire to make Cole's shot at freedom messy and difficult. She must find the strength to get close to the prince, or else the mysterious faerie will send her back to the mines and her dreadful family. Once the clock strikes midnight... she must fulfill her end of the bargain. Once the clock strikes midnight... her hands must be red with the prince's blood.

Estelle Beaumont just wanted a peaceful hike on her last day of vacation. Instead, one ill-starred moment of curiosity leaves her miraculously stranded in the fictional world of Prythian--a faerie realm full of ruthless court drama, rampant misogyny, and enough deadly magic to keep anyone up at night. Armed with foreknowledge that's only helpful when it isn't actively trying to get her killed, Estelle quickly discovers that living through the story of ACOTAR is far less fun and far more perilous when it's her own basic-ass, untrained mortal life on the line. Her plan is simple: keep her hands off of the plot and survive long enough to find a way back to the family and love she left behind. But the so-called "Mother" clearly has other plans for Estelle, forcing her to confront an unsettling truth--that her role here in Prythian might be far greater than that of a passive observer. As Estelle reluctantly abandons her original plan, uneasy alliances form, old wounds reopen, and fractured trust begins to mend. Love, loss, and scars of the past converge as Estelle slowly starts to see that the family she thought she'd lost might take a new shape, and that the life she left behind might be the only reason she's prepared for the fight ahead. But the cost of shaping Prythian's future--and her own--might be greater than she can bear. After all, it's a future that was never meant to be hers to begin with. And this is all that damned Cauldron's fault... ☆⊱──────⊰ ☽✧☾ ⊱──────⊰☆ A/N: Warning: This fanfiction is purely self-indulgent, with long-winded introspection and a major, major slowburn romance. Read at your own risk lol. Also if you don't like self-insert/iseki like tropes were an original character who read the books ends up in the fictional world as the new main character, you might want to skip this. Somethings will stay very familiar, others will diverge completely, and I plan to add extra world building along the way.
