Bellona Corvin has lived her life in the dark-not because she wanted to but due to her medical condition that made her allergic to the sun for as long as she can remember. She became nocturnal, and she grew to love the darkness of night, which caught the eye of a fellow headmaster of a secret University in Tenebrous, Maine. Dragonmir University was established for the elite and people like her, but it is said to be haunted by the spirits of the dead students from ten years ago. At least, that's what people around town have said. Bellona ignores all the warnings because this is her chance to get a better education. She finally wanted all her life and would not let her condition get in the way.

Valamir Thorne spent his life hiding in the shadows. It was his profession to end those who threatened Scythian, the secret cult he was forced to join as a young boy. He was called the Executioner, and that title made everyone around him afraid. Of course, he learned a million ways to kill a man, but only when the Judge ordered it. He didn't exactly like his job like any other sane person, but that was life. When he makes a mistake on his last mission, the Judge forces him to become a Professor at the prestigious Dragonmir University as a consequence. After a year, he will leave and return to his formal job. But for now, he has to teach whiny young adults the ways of Shakespeare and Homer.
